Today I am 63 years old. I sure don’t feel that old. Debbie and boys called early and sang Happy Birthday to me. Gosh I love those guys. Rileigh and Steph called while they were driving home from Ri’s classes and wished me a Happy Birthday, and of course, my love, my love, Danny wished me a good morning Happy Birthday. We will eat some breakfast and be on our way. Our adventure starts again. Today we are going to Desert Hot Springs RV Resort. Art and Janine (other camphost at Carpinteria) said they come here and it is on our list for Camp Club USA. It looks to be about 100 miles or so. All hooked up and off and running. Lots of traffic on the highway but the motor home is doing great. We are now in country where I have never been. Danny said he has passed thru here but never saw anything. Lots of road construction going on and lots of road construction that should be done. I thought the highway to Ventura was bad but this highway headed to San Bernadino is horrible. We shaking and rattling and rolling. I am so glad that I battened down the hatches and everything else. When we get to our destination we are going to have to be very careful opening cabinets! Page 28 We have to pull off and take a potty break. Oh gosh look, there is a Costco with a large parking lot that we can park this rig in and buy some things. Danny does a fantastic job maneuvering this rig. He really is my hero and he does drive this rig like he was driving a Volkswagon. Looks like lunch will be hot dogs at Costco. The wind is still blowing. Going down the road we felt what is was like to be in wind in a high profile vehicle. After our hot dogs we will graze around Costco. Hopefully they have something tasty. We graze a little and pick up what we need, bread, raisins, coffee, juice, turkey breast, (gotta have some Thanksgiving turkey), and of course chocolate covered almonds. Since the motor home is parked in the parking lot I can put some of this stuff away. This Costco has a gas station an the gas is $2.78 a gallon. Let’s fill us the rig. It is so much easier to put $80.00 in than $300.00 at a time. The tank is full, Fiona is on the computer and we are off again. It is a little warm, what do you expect, we are in the desert. We have arrived at Desert Hot Springs and the Catalina RV Resort and Spa. WOW, we only have 2 nights here, lets think this over. Security sends us to find the site we want, #399 looks great! Danny parks the RV, with a little help from me, and we go to the office to pay and find out what this Resort has to offer. The people in the office are so nice and friendly, just like the security guys were. We change plans and decide we need to stay 4 nights. What the heck, we are on Hawaii time and don’t have to be anywhere until Dec. 20th. They have a natural heated pools, spas, laundry and a couple of club houses and activities every day. Gosh, turkey and mashed potatoes sound good. Think we need dinner. Wow, it is good. About 6pm we decided we needed to take advantage of the pool and spa. Right, they said the pool was heated but we know that they aren’t warm like we like them. Oh yes it is!! Great big pool. It is as wide as most pools are long but not too deep. The deep end is 5 feet. Now it is time to check out the Spa. It is big and wow, it is hot. Feels so good. We stayed in there for about 20 minutes, met some nice people from Canada. Came home and worked on the computer, well played on Farmville and FarmTown, had a sandwich – what better than “left over turkey” for a sandwich. Relaxed and calm we head for bed. 2 minutes and I am asleep. Good night from the desert. |
