Mon. Dec. 28, 2009 – Good
morning from Pahrump.  Today we went to the
bank and then to WalMart.  We had to get a pair
of sandals for Danny.  His big toe is still really sore
from his slip off the step of the Disneyland train on
Thanksgiving.  He has been wearing his sock and
flip flops.  Not the best look so the sandals will look
better and give him some protection for his toe.

When we came back from WalMart we had lunch
and then went to the Winery for some wine tasting
and a tour.  The winery is only about ½ block from
our motor home and it has taken us 9 days to get
over there.  The wine tasting was great.  We do
really like the Pahrump Desert Blush, Symphony,
and the Burgandy.

The tour of the winery was really interesting.  The
owner, Gretchen, gave us the tour. She told us
about how this little winery got here in Pahrump
and why they only have about 1 ½ acre vineyard.
First of all that is all the space they have and they
only make one wine from their own grapes.  It is
the White Zin.  It sells for $75.00 per bottle.  We
did not buy one of those!  They import grapes
from vineyards in California and Oregon to make
their wines.  We asked why in the world did they
build a winery clear out here in Pahrump.  She
said that the original owners wanted to build a
winery in an out of the way
destination and because of the Nevada law that
says that you can’t have a winery, brothel, or sell
fireworks in a city where they are 100,000 people
or more – hence they built in Pahrump.  Crazy law
they say but that is the law.  You can have a
vineyard anyplace.

The tour took and hour and it was so very
informative and enjoyable.  When we left the tour
we walked back to the motor home.  WOW, it is
COLD here tonight.  Danny thinks it is going to
snow tonight.  Oh my gosh I hope not.  I want it to
be able to leave on Wed. and we do have to cross
over the pass.  I say it is a mountain pass but the
people around here say that you go “Over the
hump to Pahrump” from Las Vegas.  It is truly
more than a hump!

Made a pork chop, veggies and a salad for
dinner.  Danny and I share one pork chop.  It is
cost effective and we don’t need to eat that much.
We are trying to cut down on the food we eat and
lose those unwanted pounds.

While at Costco the other day we bought some
Acai tablets.  It says they are helpful at losing
weight and cleaning your system and you will feel
better!  I am all for that.  Have taken them for 2
days now and feel pretty good.  Suppose to tell a
difference in 10 days.  I am looking forward to that.

Watched the football game between Minnesota
and Chicago. Great game to watch and Brett
Farve is really something to watch at 40 years
old.  But, Minnesota lost by a field goal.  It was a
great overtime game. What a way to end  the 2009
Monday football season.  Now I am looking forward
to the playoffs and the Super Bowl.  Have to make
sure we are in a campground where we either get
cable or we can set up our satellite!  Sure don’t
want to miss the Super Bowl.  Hmmm, wonder what
teams will be playing this year!  Am sure the
Broncos will not play – darn.  Oh well, am sure it
will be fun to watch.

Well, I think we are going to go to the Brothel
Museum tomorrow. That should be an adventure.

Can’t believe it is almost time for us to leave
Pahrump and that 2009 is almost over.  Hope
2010 is going to be filled with exciting adventures
and fun stuff to do and see.

Goodnight from Pahrump.
