| Wed. Dec. 30, 2009 - We left Pahrump about 10:30am and headed towards Las Vegas. We stopped at the Shell station down the road from the RV Resort and got some gas for in the motor home. It is so much better to get gas when we only have to put gas in the top half of the tank. Easier to come up with $60.00 instead of $140.00. At the gas station we talked to a man who was headed, with his travel trailer and lots of Christmas trees, to Death Valley. He said his family and many others go and 4 wheel out there for New Years. He said the put the trees around their group site and then burn them at night. Reminded us of Pismo Beach. We are on our way. There is a really big mountain (hump to Pahrump) to cross on our way to Las Vegas. Makes me a little nervous just because I can’t get over the problem we had with the Bounder. This Gulf Stream works great and I really shouldn’t have to worry. We are going up the mountain and everything is going very well. There is snow on the mountain peaks and close to the road but thank goodness nothing on the road and there isn’t much traffic. We see Las Vegas. There looks like some traffic but Danny does so well driving this rig that I am not worried. Now I would worry if I was driving!! Yikes!! Page 54 We get on Flamingo Ave and head for the RV Park. We pulled in and they have our reservations so it is an easy check in. The lady that checked us in told us that for Christmas her kids gave her a hotel room on the Strip for New Years Eve. We told her that is what we are going to do. They had one of the maintenance men escort us to our site #115. We unhook our car and the gentleman guides Danny into the site and of course, my man does it perfect!! He is so good. Made lunch and we were able to sit outside and eat lunch. That was the first time we have been able to do that since we left California. It felt good to sit outside. Got a little tired and came in and took a nap. WOW, haven’t done that in ages. Must be tired from the change in altitude. We have decided to “stay in” tonight and get rested and caught up on our sleep before tomorrow night. We had plans to do lots of stuff but plans can be changed, thank goodness. The view from our front window is a colorful casino that changes color every few minutes. Not sure which Casino it is but it is right in front of us. Will go look tomorrow. Tomorrow we are going to buy a 24 hour city bus ticket so that Danny doesn’t have to drive in that horrible traffic tomorrow. Makes it nice, especially since the bus comes right to the RV Park. Will hit the streets about noon and guess we will just hang out with the rest of the people. One thing I want to do while we are here is go downtown and see the lazer light show. Probably not until New Years Day. WOW can you believe 2010 is almost here. Where in the world had time gone. After we leave here we are going to look for a campground a little ways out of Las Vegas. We are headed to Salome, AZ for a few days and then to Quartzsite, AZ. Just want to be part of the adventure in Quartzsite for a couple of nights but I am looking for one thing in particular. I need to get a rack for my oven and everyone says I will be able to get one in Quartzsite. It is cold here so we are running the house heater. Danny has fallen asleep on the floor in front of the heater vents. It is a quiet night here in Las Vegas – kind of like the lull before the storm!! Goodnight from Las Vegas.
