Wed. Feb. 17, 2010 – Early morning wake up call – 4:15am, turn on
the coffee and Danny says “Let’s get up at 5:30am and get ready to go”, that was
no problem for me, I’d like another hour of sleep.

Today we are going to San Diego again.  Danny wants to fish in the San Diego
harbor.  Great time for me to read and catch up writing in my journal.
At 5:30am we’re up and going.  I made breakfast sandwiches and we packed some
fruit and snacks, you do get hungry fishing, and we are off.

Page 85

It is a gorgous day here in San Diego, actually a beautiful morning in San Diego.
The traffic on I-8 was crowded but nothing like LA traffic.  With help from “FIONA” our
GPS voice, we are here at the harbor.  It is even more of a gorgous morning than it
was when we began today.

There are lots and lots of morning joggers and walkers out here.  From where we
are sitting we can see freighters, and military ships leave the harbor and airplanes
taking off and landing at the airport.  The bay is really calm.

When Danny gets enough fishing in we might take the Maritime Museum tour or the
USS Midway tour.  With the Meritime Museum tour you also get a short harbor
cruise.  I’ll go only if the bay is really calm.  Not sure what we will do.

Right now, 9:00am, the sun is on my back, no wind, seals are in the harbor, and a
wonderful fisherman by my side, what more could you ask for, well maybe a little
clam chowder for lunch!

So far we had 3 questions,  “catch anything?”, “where’s the ticket booth for the
Hornblower cruise?”, and “got any change for the parking meter?”.
Danny has only had one bite, he thinks the seals are infringing on his space!

We walked to Anthony’s – fish and chips.  After walking around a little we got the car
and went to Balboa Park.  We became Zoo Members, it was cheaper than a one
day ticket to the zoo and Wild Animal Park.
Gosh, here it is 2pm and we are just entering the ZOO.  The information booth lady
told us to take the trolly around the park – it is 25 minutes and then take the
gondola ride over the park.  We will see lots of stuff and then can decide where we
will go the last hour of the opening.  After the gondola ride we walked back to the
front of the ZOO and it was 4:50pm and the ZOO was going to close in 10 minutes.

Got in the car, got “FIONA” on the GPS and headed back to the rig.  We were both
tired but enjoyed our day in San Diego.  We got back to the rig, watched some
Olympics and then went to bed and fell asleep real quick.
Goodnight from Ramona.

Thur. Feb.18, 2010 – Got up early and decided we needed to go to
the Wild Animal Park.  It is only about 15 miles from here so not a bad drive.  I
packed some sandwiches, chips, fruit and drinks and off we go.

Page 86

We got a parking space close to the front and in we go.  We want to see the new
baby elephant, only 4 days old.  Wow, this is a big park, not sure we can see it all in
one day.  It is a walking park, no trams, trains or carts.

We start walking and looking at the animals and start getting a little hungry.  I didn’t
do what Danny suggested, bring the lunch with us, so we have to walk back to the
car and get our lunch.  Darn, wish I would have listened.

Back at the parking lot see a “handicap” parking space so Danny goes to move the
car while I stand in the space.  A car pulls up and starts to park, I explain I am
saving it and the lady in the passenger side rolls down her window and starts yelling
that they were parking there and I needed to move.  I tried calmly to explain to her
that my car was parking in the space and as she was yelling at me the driver kept
pulling his car into the space where I am standing.  After realizing that I was not
getting thru to these people I said “Oh whatever” and walked to where Danny had
brought the car.  He said, “don’t worry about it” and found another space.

We took our lunch into the park and sat at a great table with a view and enjoyed our
lunch hour.  After we ate and rested, we headed back to “Into Africa” where there is
a tram that takes you around the Africa area of the park.  We watched lots of  wild
animals and just as we about got to the end the herd of giraffes began to run fast.
It was very awesome and fun to see.

After the tram ride we got a shuttle cart back to the front of the park and sat and
had a cup of coffee.  It tasted so good.
The park closed at 5pm and that was the time we left after having a great Wild
Animal Park day.

We got back to the rig and decided it was still early and we had to get some laundry
done, after that a little Olympics and then bed.  We are really tired.

Goodnight from Ramona, CA.

Fri. Feb. 19, 2010 – Today is “get the rig ready to move day”.  The
weather says it is going to rain on Sat. so we decided to do what we needed to do
today so that we will be able to leave on Sun.
We cleaned and rearranged the car, and some of  the cubby storage space under
the rig.  Gosh, we have more space to store stuff – oh no, we are not getting any
more stuff.

Tonight is WII Bowling.  Last week it was really fun.  They have beans and ham at
5pm and then bowling at 6:00pm.  Danny enjoyed the beans and ham.  I ate 2 rolls.
I am just not a beans and ham person.

Page 87

Bowling has started.  I did pretty good, but only the winner progresses. I won the
first game and then lost the next two.  Danny lost the first game and then he bowled
a 202 and went on to the final game.  He did so good, got a prize for going from
loser to final
Danny ended up tying for 3rd.  Did really good.
Off to the rig and a little Olympics and then bed.

Goodnight from Ramona.

Sat. Feb. 20, 2010 – Well, it is raining and raining.  Not a day for going
outside unless you are a duck.  We went to Ramona to pick up Danny’s
prescriptions and pick up a loaf of bread and then back to the rig.
Tonight we have a potluck and at 7:00pm there is music to listen to and dance.
Phyllis and Don will be entertaining tonight.  They play great country music.

We showed up for the potluck with spaghetti in hand, Nickel is there and we met a
gentleman by the name of Outlaw.  Well, Outlaw is his last name, can’t pronounce
his first name.  Nickel is the Activities Director.  We sat and talked for about 45
minutes and nobody else showed up so we ate the spaghetti, thank goodness I
brought spaghetti.  What a great visit with Nickel and Outlaw.  Great people

7:00pm Phyllis and Don begin to play.  They are very enjoyable to listen to.  They
sang and played for about 1 ½ hour.  After it was over we hugged Nickel goodbye
and then headed home to watch some Olympics and go to bed.

Sun. Feb. 21, 2010 – MOVING DAY.  It isn’t raining – thank
goodness.  I get the inside of the rig packed and Danny finishes the outside, we
hook up the car and off we head for Menifee.  We have the computer “Streets and
Trips” set up, FIONA on the cell phone and we are off.  It is a pleasant 68 miles trip.
We got here about 1:30pm, checked in, got our site #244.  This is a huge RV park –
over 500 spaces, two club houses (a family one and an adult only one), they have a
restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thur, Fri., and Sat.

We backed into our site, well Danny backed into our site, right up to the canal that
runs behind us.  There are 2 canals that run thru the park.  We get cell phone
service and internet but no TV.  Well, today no TV.  Danny says we will have TV
tomorrow.

We drove around the park to see where stuff is.  They are having a wedding at the
Family Lodge today.  Nothing else going on.
We got on the computer, ate left over spaghetti, and went to bed.

Page 88

Goodnight from Wilderness Lakes RV park in Menifee, Ca.

Mon. Feb. 22, 2010 – It is raining and has been raining all night!  I
took a walk this morning between rain.  There is a big miniature golf course behind
the Family Lodge that looks like lots of fun.
Made biscuits and gravy for breakfast and then Danny went outside and set up the
satellite – WOW TV.  So now we get cell phone, internet and TV – Great park!!
We just stayed in the rig since it is so wet outside and worked on the computer and
of course played on the computer, watched a little TV and relaxed.

Tomorrow I think we will take a drive to Menifee and Temecula and see what is in
the area.
Tonight it will be playing on the computer, watching Olympics and bed.
Goodnight from beautiful Wilderness Lakes RV Resort.

Tue. Feb. 23, 2010 – About 8am we took our coffee and went for a
walk around the RV park.  It was so nice outside.  We walked for about ½  hour and
saw only about 1/3 of the park.  This is a big park with lots and lots of RVs.

It’s not suppose to rain today so it will be a nice day to take a drive to Temecula and
see what there is.  First stop will be  “Old Town Temecula” and see what it is.

It isn’t far to Temecula, about 11 miles.  We get to “Old Town” area and see a sign
that says Museum.  We parked and went into a nice little “Mennonite” church.  We
thought it was the beginning of the museum.  A very nice lady showed us where the
museum started.  It is a 2 story museum.  The first floor showed the history of
Temecula from the Native Americans to today.  Very interesting.  We went to the
second floor and the main portion was dedicated to Erle Stanley Gardner, the
author.  He lived in Temecula for many, many years.

We drove to the entrance of “Old Town” and parked, wow, there are some great
old buildings here with some wooden sidewalks.  Fun place to walk around.  There
are lots of antique shops, mercantile shops, ice cream, cafes, and just fun shops to
walk around in.  I was amazed at the fact that I have some of the same antiques
they have in the stores.

We walked from one end of  “Old Town” to the other and just looked.  Between two
buildings they have “Temecula’s Boot Hill” with some grave markers.  It was a nice
walk up and down the streets.  We were there for about 2 ½  hours just walking
around. What a nice day.

Page 89

We headed back to the rig – WOW so much traffic heading our way!  Oh well, just
take it slow and easy, we are not in a hurry, thank goodness and we are in the car
and not the motorhome.  Got back to the rig safe and sound.
We worked and played on the computers for a little while, watched a little of the
Olympics and then went to bed tired.  It was a great day and a great way to spend
the day with my sweetheart.

Goodnight from Menifee.

Wed. Feb. 24, 2010 – Got up about 8am and went out and fed the
geese and the ducks that are out behind our rig.  Had some old bread and they ate
it really fast.  The old white goose and partner are so selfish.  They want all the
bread and they came right up to my leg and waited with their mouths open.
Reminded me of  mom and dads mobile home park with the ducks and geese.
It was a little chilly but no rain as of yet.  The sky is really blue and no clouds.
Looks like a great day.

They are having WII games at 1pm at the Exercise room and then a manager’s
social at 3pm. We will spend the day here in the park and do some stuff that needs
to be done – or just play on the computer.

Last night Danny “gave” me one of his Farmville and Farmtowns. Not sure it was
a good thing.  Will keep me busy. Guess that will be good, a new area to build and
cultivate!  Gosh, it has been so long since we were able to get on the computer and
play that both Farmville and Farmtown have changed and we missed the changes.
Of course we like it better the original way.
The rest of the afternoon we just played on the computer and relaxed.

Goodnight from Wilderness Lakes.

Thur. Feb. 25, 2010 – Today was just one of those days where we
didn’t do much.  Just hung out at the RV park except at 9:00am we went to a
seminar on keeping your tires in good working order.  It was really a good
informative seminar. When it was over we came home, ate lunch and then there was
another seminar we went to put on by Fred about keeping your motor home running
great.  We really learned lots and enjoyed it so much.  Thanks Fred.  One thing he
told us was that in a town called Rialto there is a place called Walts and he has
everything you could want for an RV.  We are going there to see if we can find a
rack for the oven.  Oh gosh I hope so.

Page  90

After Fred’s seminar we came home and just stayed at the motor home.

Goodnight from Wilderness Lakes.

Fri. Feb. 26, 2010 – After Danny gets done with his “farms” done we
are heading to Rialto with stops in San Bernardino and Corona.  Well in San
Bernardino there is Trader Joes and a bank and then Rialto has the RV supply
place.

How silly we are, we hit rush hour traffic on a Friday morning.  Forgot what the LA
traffic was like.  Just want to get out of it safe!
Found the fish we wanted at Trader Joes and a few other things.  Gosh it has been
a long time since we were in Trader Joes.  I really like that store.

Yipee!!!  “Fiona” got us to the RV supply store before it closed and they had my
oven rack.  I am so happy!!!!  What a store this is.  He buys stuff out of wrecked RV’
s and over stock items from other RV supply stores.  He had everything and
anything you could want.  Sort of like “Quartzsite in a big building”.
On the way home we decided we could stop at Costco in Corona.  Of course, there
was stuff in Costco we “needed”.  Ok we are off to Menifee.

WOW, the traffic was something else.  Well, it is Friday night and we should have
expected it.

We got home about 7:00pm.  Time for a little snack and bed.  Long day and I am
really tired.

Goodnight from Menifee.

Sat. Feb. 27, 2010 – Rain, Rain, Rain and more Rain.  It rained most
of the night and most of the day.  We just stayed in the rig and finished putting the
stuff away from yesterday and then we went to Sun City to do laundry.  It was a nice,
clean laundry so we got all of our laundry done and we were able to wash all of our
rugs.  Oh, the motor home is nice and clean with clean rugs.

We came back home, and I laid on the bed with the hot pad on my knee.  When it
gets cold my knee hurts so bad.
We were going to the Club House for “Entertainment” but when we got there they
were just playing cards so we came home and Danny talked with Sissy and worked
on his “farms” and so did I.  We have RFD on the TV and listening to some “old”
country.  It is

Page 91

nice for a change.  People like, Jeannie Sealy, Barbara Fairchild, Bill Anderson,
Lynn Anderson and Little Jimmy Dickens, Doug Stone, T. Graham Brown, Jim Ed
Brown,  Roy Clark.
Sounds like the rain has stopped for the night.  Tomorrow should be nice.
Talked to Beau on the computer. It is so much fun to talk to my grandkids.  Gosh I
love them so much – we to infinity and beyond!!!

Ashley and Ricky are fine in Hawaii with the Tsunami. Thank goodness.
Gotta go and harvest something on one of my farms so will say

Goodnight from rainy Wilderness Lakes, where the ducks and the geese are
enjoying the rainy weather.  I am enjoying the rain, just hearing it on the roof of the
motor home.

Sun. Feb. 28, 2010 – Today we went over to the Clubhouse for the
“undenominational” Sunday service.  There was lots of people attending, the room
was almost full.
After the service we went over and looked at some RV’s sitting in the parking lot.
Oh my gosh, some of those were huge and all were very, very nice.  They all had
atleast two slides.  Boy, slides make such a difference in the room that you have,
but they also make a difference in the gas you use traveling.  I would rather travel
than have a slide.

If things work out this summer we are going to redo our motor home.  We are taking
out the table and putting a cabinet and computer desk there and then remove the
sofa and put a couple of chairs there.  Found the chairs I want to use in Quartzsite.
Guess that means a trip back to Quartzsite in Jan.  Have no problem with that.
Then we want to get a flat screen TV in the motor home.  We now have the old and
heavy regular TV.  The object is to make the coach lighter and updated.  It isn’t that
old but updating is always a good thing.

We walked around the park and then had lunch.  Made some egg salad, it was very
good.  Haven’t made that in ages!  After eating we decided to take a drive to the
Target about 1 miles away.  It is a “Super Target” and gave us someplace to look
around.  All of the stores and restaurants of Menifee are in that area.  Bought some
ice cream and came home.

We were going to Bar-B-Que chicken for dinner BUT it got too late and so I just
cooked it in the electric skillet, and to make it taste like it was bar-b-qued I put sauce
on it.  The stupid lid from the bottle popped off, hmm guess it wasn’t on tight, and
sprayed sauce all over my “Terrible Herbst” white T-shirt.  Darn, I really liked that
shirt.  I quickly took it off and washed it out.  Maybe I got it all out.  I did say a few
%$#& under my breath when it happened.  Oh well, life goes on.

Page 92

What a thrill I got in my email.  My cousin on the Wahle side of the family contacted
me.  Thanks Maggie for finding me.  We had a little email back and forth. Learned a
little about her family and told her about mine.  I think we will be keeping in touch.
Hopefully one of these days when Danny and I are traveling up around Sacramento
I will be able to meet Maggie.  Looking forward to that day.

Got a little tired, not sure what from, didn’t do much today and as a retired person I
don’t get up early! Gosh I guess being retired just makes me tired OR I am finally
catching up on my sleep from the many years of raising children, keeping up with
the family, and working.  Will probably catch up on that sleep when I am 95!

Well, goodnight from Menifee and the Wilderness Lakes RV Resort.
