Mon. March 1, 2010 – Good morning this fine first of March. Does March –come in like a lion and out like a lamb OR in like a lamb and out like a lion. HMM, think it is the first way. Today we had to go to the bank and places so we went to Lake Elsinore. It is only about 15 minutes from here. They have Costco and the banks so we snacked around Costco. Thy didn’t have much to test so when we left we had to go get some dinner. Just could’t eat another hot dog. After we had our fast food we headed home. We watched “Bachelor” and was really surprised by the outcome. Oh well, Jake had his reasons. Funny how we can get caught up in that show. Looking forward to the Bachelorette with Alli. She is the one who told Jake she had to leave because of her job. Hmm, wonder how this will turn out. ALSO, Dancing with the Stars will be on again soon. I do enjoy that show. Danny usually gets interested about the middle of the season and watches the end with me. He has lots of stuff to do on the computer so he will be keeping himself busy. Gotta say goodnight from Wilderness Lakes. Tue. Mar. 2, 2010 – Not much to write about. Kind of just hung out here at the RV park and worked on the computers. Gotta try and figure out where we go next. Well, just get some kind of an idea.. It was nice enough outside to eat lunch. Put some fish on the Bar-B-Q for lunch. It was OK, but not as good as I wanted it to be. Will try again and see what I can do. Usually it tastes really great. The veggies on the bar-b-que weren’t all that good either. Hmm, gotta work on the bar-b-que cooking. I am NOT Bobbie Flay that is for sure! Page 93 Watching a little TV and falling asleep. Guess I had better close and get some real sleep. Goodnight from our sleepy RV in Wilderness Lakes. Wed. Mar. 3, 2010 – Another day to hang out at the RV park. Cleaned a little and then worked on the computer. We went for a walk. We had to take out the trash and decided to walk around the park. We walked to the far side of the park, the long way around, and stopped and talked to Gwen and Tom. They were fun to talk to. Gwen was a photographer for SF 49ers. She had a great picture of Jerry Rice, Gwen, and Steve Young. It was wonderful. They are from up around Sacramento. We enjoyed out visit and then walked back. There were some wild turkeys running around here with the ducks and the geese. Danny went out and took pictures. The turkeys looked like they needed to be fed. Good thing they are hanging around here. Not much else happening. Goodnight from Wilderness Lakes RV Park. Thur. Mar. 4, 2010 – Drove to Hemet. Had to do some banking and looking. When we drove into Hemet I remembered that my good friend. Barb, was from here. She was a great friend! Have been getting emails from my “new found” cousin, Maggie. It is so much fun to talk to relatives that you didn’t know you had. I think my emails are too long and involved but when I get started I feel like I have so much to say and have to hurry. We drove around Hemet, had lunch at McDonalds and then went to the Thrift Shop and bought a golf club so that I could have my own club to play miniature golf. We always have so much fun. Hopefully tomorrow it will be nice and we can play. They have a great miniature course here at the park. It is 18 holes. I am not good at it but the rules say you get 4 trys and then you pick up your ball and give yourself 5 strokes. We came back from Hemet and had a light dinner and worked on the computers. Well, Danny played on his Framtowns and I played a game and then got bored. Page. 94 Now it is time to watch a little TV and get to bed. Want to be ready to play a great game of miniature golf. Goodnight from Menifee, CA Fri. March. 5, 2010 –Today it was way too windy and rainey to play outside. After breakfast we unhooked and drove the coach over to get propane. We are really down and don’t want to try and find propane when we leave. It is really convenient here in the park and doesn’t really cost that much more than it does at a gas station and boy I like convenience when we are talking driving this motor home someplace. Danny does handle it like it was a volkswagon. Most days he really amazes me the way he can put the motor home right where he wants it and makes it look so easy! I know it isn’t as easy as he makes it look – remember – I drove this rig 37 miles – all by myself!! Ok, we now have a full tank of propane. We were down to about 1/8th of a tank. We haven’t gotten propane since we were dry camping at Scaddan Wash in Quartzsite. It was time. Today is Friday so we are going to bar-b-ques veggies and fish on the little grill. Got a pan that says it is the veggie cooking pan and a sheet that says it is perfect to cook fish on. OK, lets see how this works! Well, it tasted OK. Not sure what was wrong with it. It just didn’t have the usual flavor it usually has. I even basted it with lemon butter. Atleast it was edible. We got on the computer and got onto “Streets and Trips” and checked out our trip to Carpinteria. Danny wrote down all of the freeways we were going to be on so that I could “look out” for them. I think he is a bit concerned about driving thru the LA traffic. I am sure that is because of ALL the traffic we had to go thru when we went from Malibu to Disneyland the day before Thanksgiving! I am hopeful that since we are leaving on a Sunday morning there will be less traffic. Sat. Mar, 6, 2010 – This morning we are taking the motor home downtown Menifee and get gas. Not sure anything will be open in the morning when we leave. We gotta get gas before we leave. I made biscuits and gravy for breakfast. It was pretty good. I never seem to be able to make it the same each time I make it. You would think that after making biscuits and gravy as many times as I have, I could get it the same. Oh well, it didn’ t taste bad, it tasted pretty good so I guess I’ll just enjoy it. These last two days were just not my best cookin days! Where are you Paula and Rachel and Sandie – Lynda needed help! Page 95 Yesterday when we went to get propane we took off the tire covers and folded them and put them in the cubbie so that is done. Danny unhooked the water, sewer, and electric and we are off for downtown Menifee. Stopped at the entrance station and let them know we weren’t leaving for good – just getting gas. Wanted to make sure they would let us back in. It was just a precaution!! Darn, it is Sat. and everyone in Menifee is on the road. Looks like the freeway 15 is pretty busy too. OK, it isn’t going to be this way tomorrow! I sure hope not. Danny pulled into the gas station with no problems at all. I am amazed – as always. Sure he could do this – we don’t have the tow car! As if that makes a difference! We are back at the RV park and Danny backed the rig back into the site and put it right where it was when we left – within about 10 inches. I am sure it is because of his helper – me -. Ha. I keep telling you he is really good about driving this rig and he is great about backing it! We are talking 30 feet long, NOT a Volkswagon! Gosh this guy makes me happy! Oh my gosh, Danny has decided we need to get up at 3:00am and be ready to pull out by 4:00am. I am thinking we had better get to bed right now! Ate a sandwich and cleaned up, packed the kitchen and we are ready to call it a night! OK, it is now 8:00pm and we are calling it a night! An early Goodnight from Wilderness Lakes. Sun. Mar. 7, 2010 – Time to get up!!! It is still dark outside, really dark! Oh well, I can do this, I am only riding and navigating. Atleast I will be able to see the computer better in the dark than I can when the sun is shinning bright. We are pulling out about 3:50am. We get the car hooked up and we are off. Oh great, not much traffic on the freeway. Hope it stays that way! We pull on to the freeway and head Northwest towards LA! Traffic was pretty good along the way. It got a little “thick” about Riverside but it thinned out and we just kept on going. Oh, oh, the sign says the exit to 71 is closed. We have to use the detour. Ok, follow the signs. Fiona2 hasn’t said anyting about a detour. Usually we get the update on the GPS. Well, we turned left and should have kept straight and ended up in a residential area. Thank goodness it is still VERY early Sunday morning. Danny pulled this rig around 3 city blocks and got us right back where we got off. Whew! Page 96 Now we are on 71 and headed towards Pasadena. That is where the traffice is going to get a little crazy, we think. Gosh the cities look so pretty all lite up in the dark. LA lites up the sky to the left! We just keep going and traffic is OK. We have to up a small mountain and then we are on the downhill side. Things are going well. My rosary beads are in my hand and I have given her (the motorhome) some great compliments and my faith. It is now 6:30am and we are in Oxnard. There is an IHOP, time to stop, pee and eat! Oh, a cup of coffee will sure taste good. We didn’t drink anything cuz we didn’t know where we could pull over if needed. We had a great breakfast, we were the only ones in the restaurant. People started coming in about the time we were leaving. We stretched, and ate and now we are ready to head for Carpinteria. We will be there about 8am and check in is 2pm. We decided to drive to Santa Barbara, park by the ocean and rest. Wow, Santa Barbara is nice. We parked by the Bathhouse, and laid down to rest. I immediately fell asleep. I slept for about 2 hours, I think Danny did too. We were so very tired and stressed, worried about the traffic. We woke up and just had to walk on the beach. There were lots of people, walking, jogging and walking their dogs on the beach. There was a sailboat that was beached. It was a pretty nice one, a little old, but nice. Talked to a gentleman and he said it broke away from its mooring and ended up on the beach. What a shame, it was done for. After our walk we went back to the motor home and took a little rest. Danny slept and I sat in the passenger seat and watched the traffic and the people. There was a small car parked right in front of us, which made it almost impossible to move. We waited until about 11:45am and Danny said he was going to try and back up, just 2 feet, and get us out. He did it!! Have I said how great he is about getting this rig to do what he wants it too! He is my hero! We are off to Carpinteria. We pull into town, it feels like home, and head for the State Park. As we pull in we see our friend, Park Aid Stephanie in the Kiosk. We pulled over to the side and came back to the Kiosk to register. Stephanie said, just come in and register yourselves, you know how to do it! She registered us and we visited for a moment. Ranger Scotty came by, he was on duty, and couldn’ t figure out what looked different on Danny. I said, “he shaved off his beard”. That made him look a lot different than when he had that full beard. We went to our camp site #198, Danny backed us in perfect and we are here. The ocean in front of us. The ocean looked very angry with all the waves and churning. The wind was really blowing and it was cold. Hopefully tomorrow will be better weather – but we are here. Danny tried to set up the satellite and the wind was blowing so hard it blew it down and broke the weld. Before lunch, Danny had his tools out and had it fixed. Now if Page 97 it works will be another thing. Don’t know if it broke the eye or not. Oh gosh, I hope not. After our tuna sandwich we laid down and took a little nap and tried to catch up on some sleep. Had no problem falling asleep. You know, when you get old it takes a lot out of you when you get up really early in the morning. When we woke up the wind was still blowing and it made it too windy and cold to go outside so we worked on the computers, ate dinner.. Danny hooked up the VCR so we could watch a movie. It was still too windy to set up the satellite dish and see if it worked. We have a whole folder full of movies and nothing to watch. OK, lets watch RV AGAIN. I need to watch something that is lite and comical. I do love RV especially now since we have done some traveling in the RV. Movie is over and I can’t keep my eyes open and I jut heard Danny snore. Think I’ ll go to sleep. Goodnight from windy Carpiinteria State Park. Lynda click on this link to see our page http://www.camphostcouple.com Tue. Mar. 9, 2010 – We packed up and left Carp about 11am and headed to North Beach Campground, Pismo Beach. It is about 100 miles and we have driven it so many times. We just drove straight with one potty stop. The motor home traveled well, and we had a safe and easy trip. We arrived North Beach about 1:00pm and found a great site, #31. We are going to be here for 3 nights. We don’t have hookups but we will do OK. The first night here we just hung out, and went to the grocery store, came back and went to bed. Page 99. It was cold and windy but nice. Good night from North Beach. Wed. Mar. 10, 2010 – Today we went to the grocery store and got some chicken. It was on sale and since Deb and Mark and boys are coming to Avila, it is a good deal. We walked around the park and just enjoyed the quiet. We sat outside and soaked up some sun then the wind started to blow so we went back in the motor home. Not much going on. Just relaxing and enjoying the quiet. Danny wants to go fishing off the pier tomorrow. Sure hope it is warm. Out there on the end of the pier the wind blows and it is mighty cold. Paul, Danny’s nephew called and he and Mel are coming to Pismo Beach tonight. They did come to our site about 8:30pm and wanted some help finding a hotel. They found one, not far from our camp site. Good night from North Beach. Thur. Mar. 11, 2010 – We got up this morning and after breakfast we headed to the pier to fish. It was chilly on the end of the pier but not as bad as it has been before. In our little area of the pier we had a “friendly” pelican with us. I got some great shots with my cell phone. He allowed me to get really close. He was watching to see if anyone was catching a fish. When anyone caught a fish the pelican flew over to where they were fishing. I think he was just waiting to be fed. After about 1 ½ hours we headed back to the motor home. We met up with Paul and company and they came and had a sandwich with us. After lunch Paul wanted to take his landcruiser to the dunes. Mel, Yoli, and I stayed on the beach and waited for them. 2 hours later they came back. We came back to the motor home for some dinner. Paul was going to bar-b-que at the park but I was so cold I just wanted to stay in. Thank you for the invite Paul. We didn’t do much tonight. We did get read to move in the morning. We will be taking our time getting out of here. We only have to travel 10 minutes or so to our next destination, Avila Beach. Good night from North Beach in Pismo Beach. Page 100 Fri. Mar. 12, 2010 – On the road again. This time only for about 15 minutes. It isn’t very far from Pismo Beach to Avila Beach. We have never been to this campground before so I am looking forward to someplace different. Here we are at Avila Beach, Ocean Resort. It is a small campground but it has trees and small sites and nice. It has a pool, spa, and game room. Hopefully we will get to use the pool and spa, if the wind doesn’t blow. We get our site #39 and Danny puts this rig right in it without much help from me. I hardly had time to move the car and run back to the motor home to help him back up. We get set up easily and enjoy the rest of the evening. Debbie and Mark and the boys will be here early tomorrow morning. Got to get things set up and cleaned up so we can just enjoy them. Ok, all is in order, so I played alittle on my Farm Town and Farmville and now it is time to get some sleep. Good night from Aviila Beach. Sat. Mar. 13, 2010 – Well Debbie said they were going to leave about 6am but they aren’t here yet. Deb just texted me and they are getting a late start, 8:00am. Ok, they won’t be here for a while so we will have some breakfast and just relax. They kids showed up about 11:00am. It was so great to see them. Gosh it has been a long time since Nov. when we saw them. We went to the pool and spa. Came back had some lunch and then headed went over to the Club House and played pool, ping pong, and shuttleboard. The boys seem toreally enjoy themselves as well as we adults. After playing we came back to the rig and had dinner. It was good chicken, twice baked potatoes, brussel sprouts and strawberry shortcake. It was all so good. It is too windy outside so we are just going to stay in the rig. We did go over for a last play of pool, ping pong and shuffelboard. We watched the movie 2012, it was such a long movie. Think it might be good but need to just sit and watch it and not be tired when we start. Went to bed about 11:00pm. Tomorrow we are taking the boys fishing off the pier. Good night from Site 39-Avila Ocean Canyon RV Park. Page 101 Sun. Mar 14, 2010 – Up kind of early, but not really. We had to turn the clock ahead 1 hour today. We had breakfast inside the motor home. It was just kind of cold outside. After cleaning up we headed towards the pier for some fishing. The boys are READY. They had such good luck fishing when we were in Morro Bay, they are hoping for the same kind of “fishing luck”. Deb and Mark walked around Avila Beach downtown and Danny and I took the boys out to the pier. They fished and caught nothing. Didn’t get a bite. Danny did catch a small fish. Everyone got excited. Deb and Mark brought us back to the motor home and they headed back to Tulare. It was so much fun to see them and visit with them but they sure weren’t here long enough. After they left we went to Costco and got some stuff because Steph, Brian, Rileigh and Kyle will be here Tuesday. Just need some lunch stuff. We snacked around Costco and then checked out and came home. It has been a long day. Just need to relax a little. We played on the computer and then went to bed. Good night from Avila Beach.
